Zakat Calculator

Sources and method

Every rule in the calculator and the guides comes from published guidance by the bodies below. Where they disagree, we say so and show which one a result used. The calculator is an estimate, not a fatwa.

Nisab weights

The nisab is the value of a set weight of gold or silver. Trusted bodies convert the original 20 dinars and 200 dirhams slightly differently, so the calculator lets you choose:

Weights fromGoldSilver
National Zakat Foundation (UK)87.48 g612.36 g
Zaytuna College (US)85 g595 g
Diyanet (Turkey)80.18 g561.2 g

Prices

Gold and silver prices come from gold-api.com and currency rates from the Exchange Rate API, fetched by your browser. A dated copy is kept in the page in case either is unreachable. You can type your own price, for example your jeweller's.

Review

The rules are taken from the sources below as written. A review by a scholar is planned before launch, and this page will name the reviewer once it is done. If you find an error, please tell us through the contact page.
